ROU - Route Information Management
The CANIAS ERP Route Information Management program enumerates, independently of
the production schedule, the production stages necessary for
the fabrication or assembly of a product. The Routing forms
a basis for production order control, the planning of capacity
for machinery and labor force, and product costing.
Goals
The target is to provide a means to manage all data concerning
- the implementation of operations
- the sequence in which they should be carried out,
- the production resources and necessary tools,
- the work centers at which these operations should be carried out.
Structure
The core of the CANIAS ERP Route Information Management module is the routing itself.
All materials for which a routing programm can be generated
are recorded in the IAS material master.
Routings
The CANIAS ERP System distinguishes three different types of routing:
- Normal routing
- Alternative routing
- Standard routingTrough the routing category (input field in the routing main mask), the
related routing is determined.
Normal routing
A normal routing is clearly for a particular material and
contains data on all work processes which have to be carried
out specifically for the production of this material.
Alternative routing
It is occasionally necessary to define different routings
for a material for different business contexts. The Alternative
Product Tree Management provides this service.
Standard routing
The multiple routing concept is useful to implement standardized
production processes which then can be incorporated in various
derived routings. The head of the routing contains the material
to be produced, the period of its validity, the valid lot
size range, the status which determines in which context the
routing may be used and the work scheduler who controls the
production.
Operations
Once a routing has been completed, it can be scheduled. The
scheduling data can be recorded in the material master. This
information can be used in the creation of rough-cut capacity
load records for material requirement planning.
Work center
Among the data handled by work centers are:
- Cost Centers/Activity Types
- Capacity data
- Calculations for scheduling and capacity loads
- Proposed values for the routing
The most important input data in the CANIAS ERP work center
are the activity types for a particular work center, and its
potential capacity. Grundlage der Kapazittsberechnung bilden
die Kapazittsbasen Maschine und Personal. Capacity calculations
are based on labor and plant capacity figures. Additional
input masks enable the planning of work periods of one week
(standard working week) and for exceptions to standard working
weeks, such as national holidays, company specific holidays
or extended working hours due to increased production targets.
Planning types
CANIAS ERP offers the user three different types of work center
and routing planning:
- Regenerative planning
- Repeat planning
- Similarity planning
Substitute function
The CANIAS ERP Route Information Management module offers the following replacement
functions to the work planner:
- Work center substitution
- Control of any operations substitution
- Production resources substitution
Where used list
For components which are common to several Routings, the Where-Used
List will display all of the Routings which are relevant to
the item.
Print functions
Routings can be printed directly from the routing data displayed.
